LUSH Vanilla Puff Powder

Miracle in a bottle? I think yes.
Damage: $6.95

The story with my love for this little treasure is that it came out of the blue, a-m-a-zed me and left me really trying to figure out how and why I went so long without it in my life/beauty regimen. Lush has always, as it is for many, been a natural beauty haven. I find myself within its handmade aromatic clutches more frequently. While drooling over some of the latest bath bombs, someone pointed out that I smelled like vanilla and if I ever used Lush’s Vanilla Puff Powder. It’s funny because various people around me lately have mentioned my vanilla aroma that’s starting to become something of a signature scent of mine. So discovering this body powder was like “where have you been all my life dahling”.

Vanilla Puff Powder is large enough to last like 2-3 months with daily usage. And a small enough bottle to carry with you during the day. And in hot muggy NYC summer weather, it’s necessary. You can smooth a little bit over your body to absorb moisture from the atmosphere. Lush’s dusting powders contain absorbent natural properties that help blot up excess moisture, to contain it from the get-go. Each formula is different, but the foundation of each are powders like sodium bicarbonate (baking soda), charcoal, or other absorbers like magnesium trisilicate or magnesium carbonate. It doubles as a deodorant sans aluminum-based compounds or any other ingredient acting as an “antiperspirant”. It triples as possible dry shampoo also but my complicated curly hair prevents me from exercising that possibility just yet. I’ll try it in my hair when I want to stretch a blow-out. Honestly, I like it the best after a shower when I’ve just exfoliated and my pores are open, ready and willing to absorb this goodness. My skin feels so smooth and silky afterwards.

Can’t say I never shared any goodies with you guys. Seriously get this Vanilla puff powder or their equally superb Silky Underwear powder and thank me later.

Shu Uemura Art For Hair Cleansing Oil Shampoo
Late last year Shu Uemura introduced its Art For Hair Cleansing Oil Shampoo. It claims to have a delicate formula that transforms quickly into a rich thick foam that effectively draws out the impurities and build-up on the scalp without stripping the natural oils.

What’s In It? Aqua, sodium laureth sulfate, mipa-laureth sulfate, sodium chloride, cocamidopropyl betaine, glycerin, peg-18 castor oil dioleate, propylene glycol, peg-55 propylene glycol oleate, avocado oil, laureth-5 carboxylic acid, ppg-5-ceteth-20, sodium benzoate, laureth-2, polyquaternium-53, salicylic acid, limonene (fragrance), alcohol, linalool (fragrance), citronellel (fragrance), safflower glucoside, gentiana lutea extract, thermus thermophilus ferment, citrus junos peel extract, sodium hydroxide, citric acid, fragrance.
Why you’ll love it? I’m not too sure. I haven’t tried it yet BUT I can guess that it would be somewhat beneficial to any mane since the oils won’t strip the hair’s cuticle like a typical shampoo would. Though its paraben and silicone free, sodium laureth sulfate and mipa-laureth sulfate were the second and third ingredients on the product’s list. Eeeek!
Damage? $55
Honestly this is something that one can probably D.I.Y. themselves just by adding castor oil and jojoba or avocado oil to your favorite paraban, sulfates, and silicone-free shampoo. I can’t really see myself paying that price for a 13.4 ounce bottle of cleansing oil. But I can’t say that I wouldn’t try it once, especially if it was gifted to me.

Clinique just released some new shades from their Chubby Stick Moisturizing Lip Colour balm collection for this summer 2012.

What’s In It? Chubby Stick Moisturizing Lip Colour Balm’s highly moisturizing formula uses a special blend of decadent butters, oils and antioxidants to help protect and pamper lips with immediate moisturization. Infused with Shea Butter, Mango Seed Butter and Jojoba Seed Oil.
Why you’ll love it? The light formula and pretty hues will give your lips natural pops od color, shine and moisture.
Damage? $16
I’m definitely getting my hands on a couple of these shades for the summer. I prefer all my makeup for the warmer months to be on the lighter side, especially during the day. I can only really see myself wearing a bold lip at night so these lip balms are perfect for daytime. I have my eyes on the mighty mimosa, oversized orange & heaping hazelnut. Yum.
I’ve been meaning to switch this blog over to more of a beauty blog than such a personal one. Since I’m kind of a cosmetic junkie and have always loved it. So expect way more posts related to beauty and product reviews.
